SOCCI POWERS TBIRDS TO FIRST VICTORY

Morrisonville, NY – The Plattsburgh Thunderbirds have defeated the Japan Islanders to earn their first victory of the season winning 14-3.

The Islanders looked to be taking control early on when they took a 4-1 lead in the 3rd inning. Hiroki Itakura scored the first run as he got on base with a single and scored together with Ryosuke Sato, who walked, on a 2-run single by Taiga Sato. Aj Pollack, who reached base with a bunt single, scored on a sac fly by Tommy Dunleavy. Calvin Rucker continued the scoring when Tredell Blow doubled to left center to give Japan a 4-0 lead.

Thunderbirds would fight back with 7 runs in the 4th. Anthony Socci belted a deep grand slam homer to left center field trees to cap off the 7 run 4th.

Thunderbirds would tak on 6 more in the 8th inning as Japans Bullpen struggled to get guys out.

This was the Thunderbirds first win of the season.

Riverpigs off to 3-0 Start

Tupper Lake, NY – The Tupper Lake Riverpigs are off to another great start to a season as they have won the first 3 games of the year. However it has not been easy.

The Riverpigs defeated the Plattsburgh Thunderbirds in Walk-Off fashion by a score of 4-3 on a stolen base that scored the winning run.

The team would then face the rivals Saranac Lake Surge on June 10th. A game where the Riverpigs led 6-0 before Salix Felix belted a homer over the left field wall for the Surge to make it 6-2. The surge would come all the way back within 1 in the 8th inning but wasn’t enough as the Riverpigs took the first Rival game by a score of 7-5.

The Riverpigs would ace the Japan Islanders in a game where the Riverpigs did not have the lead until the end when in the 11th inning the Riverpigs would walk-off on a wild pitch to get them to a (3-0) start.

The Riverpigs would take on the Surge on Wednesday at Municipal Park at 7:00pm.

Big 8 Run 4th Gives Surge 2nd Win

Tupper Lake, NY – The Saranac Lake Surge vs Plattsburgh Thunderbirds game in Plattsburgh was moved to Tupper Lake, New York as the weather did not allow for the game to be played at Plattsburgh.

The Surge defeated the Thunderbirds by a score of 10-3 on an 8 run 4th inning that brought 12 batters to the plate.

Adam Imwalle and Josh Tesarck led the way offensively with two hits. Imwalle drove in two runs in this contest. Barrone Porter and Salix Felix both scored two runs.

For the Thunderbirds, Anthony Torrellas led the way with Jaylen Turner and Anthony Socci with 2 singles each. Sutherland, Torreullas and Turner would be the only Tbirds to score in this one.

Max Peterson goes 6.0 innings allowing 2 runs walking 4 and striking out 4. He would be credited with the win.

Dunleavy Powers Islanders in Big Win

Plattsburgh, NY – The Japan Islanders defeated the Plattsburgh Thunderbirds in a big way on Monday behind the big power bat of Tommy Dunleavy.

Tommy Dunleavy led the Islanders offensively with 3 home runs in the game. This was the first time in Empire League history, any player has hit 3 home runs in a game.

Hiroki Itakura, Darius Barton and Aj Pollack join the hit parade as they also homered once each to give the Islanders a commanding lead in the game.

Lorenzo Hardit started for the Islanders and took the win while Anthony Socci would end up taking the loss for the Thunderbirds.

Thunderbirds actually led in the game going into the 4th inning with great hitting from Kezlin Douglas and Jake Ford who each had two 3 hits in the game. Ford hit a home run to the opposite field in the 9th. He would end with 3 RBI’s in the game.

George Sutherland had a pair of hits himself with 2 RBI’s and 2 Stolen Bases.

Japan Islanders took the win over the Thunderbirds by a score of 27-10. That was Japans first win of the season.

Border Hounds make history on Opening Night

Malone, NY – The Malone Border hounds packed the house on opening day when the team made Empire League History by having a sold out crowd of over 1,000 fans to see the Border Hounds play.

Japan wasted no time as lead off hitter Aj Pollack hit the first ever pitch thrown over the ball park. The team would score 4 runs in the first inning off pitcher Alex Lilja.

However the team showed resiliency as they would put up 4 runs in the 3rd and 6 in the 4th to take the lead which they would never give up.

Malones own Evan Keegan led the way for the Border Hounds with 3 hits, 2 runs and an RBI. Devon Hawks, Jose Torrealba, Jacob McCarthy and Darlin De La Rosa all had two hits in the game.

While for the Islanders, Tommy Dunleavy led the way with 2 hits and Taiga Sato had a total of 3 RBI’s.

William Shea got the win for the Border Hounds while Yoshi Nakasato was credited with the Loss.
