SPRING GAMES TO BE PLAYED VERSUS BRAVES MILB

NORTH PORT, FL – The Empire League will play its spring games against the Atlanta Braves minor league team on Tuesday April 11th to the 15th.

Last year, the Empire League was defeated by the Minnesota Twins affiliate by a score of 4-3 on a game that saw many players go on to sign to MLB Partnered leagues such as the Frontier League.

The first game will be played on Tuesday versus the Braves at 12:00pm ET at the Atlanta Braves Spring Training Minor League Facility in Venice, FL

PEGUERO SIGNS OUT OF ALL INDY SHOWCASE

YORK, PA – The Empire League held its annual All Indy Pro Showcase during the week where a filled Wellspan Stadium brought players from all over the nation to showcase in front of Atlantic League, Frontier League and Empire League coaches.

One player that stood out was right handed pitcher Matthew Peguero. Peguero came to the showcase after his time with the Tampa Bay Rays was up.

Peguero would showcase a 95 mile per hour heavy fastball complementing the slider and changeup.

Peguero drew interest from both the Empire State Greys of the Frontier League and the Lancaster Barnstormers, champions of last years Atlantic League. But it was the Empire State Greys that would snag Peguero and signed him for the 2023 season.

Peguero has a live arm and could be a top starter for the Empire State Greys.

The next All Indy Pro Showcase will take place at Wellspan Park, Home of the York Revolution of the Atlantic League, next year at the beginning of April where it has taken place every year for the past four season.

TODD EVERLETH TO MANAGE SURGE

SARANAC LAKE, NY – The Saranac Lake Surge have announced Todd Everleth as the next manager of the Saranac Lake Surge for the 2023 season.

Todd Everleth is a local baseball player who has been involved in the game for many years as a player in the Adirondacks.

He will lead the Surge in 2023 and is looking for the teams 2nd title in the Empire League.

RYOSUKE SATO TO LEAD JAPAN

The Japan Islanders announced the signing of Ryosuke Sato as the new leader for the 2023 season.

Sato will be traveling from Japan to lead the new look Japan Islanders who look to bounce back from a last place finish in 2022.

JOSH FERRO SIGNS WITH THE HOUSTON ASTROS

Plattsburgh, NY – Josh Ferro, catcher of the Plattsburgh Thunderbirds has signed a contract with the Houston Astros.

Ferro spent the 2021 season with the Thunderbirds who made it to the final game of the season but came up short.

He batted .250 during his time in the Empire League.
