BRUCE BELL TOSSES 2 HITTER IN BRILLINACE SOX VICTORY

WASHINGTON, PA – The Brilliance Sox remain in first place taking down the Saranac Lake Surge.

Big Second inning for the Brilliance Sox as Darren Love drove in Cody Lovejoy for the first run of the game. The runs would continue when Trey Bigford would double in Tyler Reis and Darren love. Mark Demko joined in driving in Trey Bigford. Trey Hunt dropped one into left for another RBI.

Bruce Bell started for the Brilliance Sox going 6 scoreless innings with just 2 hits allowed striking out 10 batters. Taylor Olmstead would break up the no hitter in the bottom of the third with a line drive to left field.

Trey Hunt belted his first home run of the series. A big two run shot over the left field wall for his second hit of the game.

The Brilliance Sox improve to (4-1) while the Surge struggles continue falling to (0-6).

Both teams will continue play tomorrow at 11:00am and 3:00pm for more Empire League Series action.

LUBRESKI STELLAR IN WIN OVER RIVERPIGS

WASHINGTON, PA –  The Road Warrior Black Sox defeated the Tupper Lake Riverpigs 13-3 in today’s Empire League series action.

The Road Warrior Black Sox exploded offensively in the top of the 3rd when Zane Gelphman hit a sacrifice fly to bring in the first run of the game. Derek Reddy would score on a wild pitch ball 4, Omar Artsen would score on a error and a double by Marten Pauwels would drive in two runs to make it 5-0.

Sean Lubreski started for the Black Sox and cruised through the Riverpigs lineup as he took a no-hitter into the 5th inning when Marcus Guzman of the Riverpigs singled to center field to break up the no-no. Lubreski

In the bottom of 6th inning the Riverpigs would get the ball rolling when Cameron Plank singled, Tyler Bailey followed with a double and Marcus Guzman belted his first home run of the season over the left field wall. A 3 run shot to cut down the deficit to 2.

The Black Sox would answer in the top of the 7th inning when Zane Gelphman and Frank Podkul went back to back off relief pitcher Stephen Cardiello. They would score 4 runs in the the top of the 7th to take a 9-3 lead.

Newly acquired Joseph Lara was the starter for the Riverpigs throwing 3 innings allowing 5 runs on 3 hits and striking out 3 batters. Also newly acquired RHP Blinger Perez would do damage control for the Riverpigs tossing 3 innings not allowing another run.

Winning pitcher is Sean Lubreski while Joseph Lara would take the loss.

Both teams will continue play tomorrow at 11:00am and 3:00pm.

JERRY CHAVARRIA’S BIG BLAST LIFTS BRILLIANCE OVER ROAD WARRIOR

WASHINGTON PA – The Baseball Brilliance Sox go into extra innings with the Road Warrior Black Sox and Jerry Chavarria ends it with a walk off home run.

Frank Podkul belted his 2nd home run of the series and is now the league leader in home runs.

Marcos Corrales went 2 for 4 with a run and an RBI while Ben Andrews joined him going 2 for 2 with a run and a stolen Base for the Brilliance Sox.

For the Road Warriors, Zane Gelphman went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI’s while Pete Yorgen went 2 for 3 with a double and a run scored.

The game would go into extra innings and with runner on second, Jerry Chavarria belted his first home run to give the Brilliance Sox the win and overall first place in the Empire League Standings.

Both teams will continue play tomorrow at 11:00 am and 3:00pm for more Empire League Series action.

RIVERPIGS WIN CLOSE ONE OVER SURGE IN SECOND BATTLE OF THE ADIRONDACKS

WASHINGTON, PA – Tupper Lake Riverpigs defeat the Saranac Lake Surge by a score of 6-3 in game 2 of Battle of the Adirondacks.

Riverpigs took an early lead right off the bat in the top of the 1st inning when lead off hitter Colton Adams scored on a base hit by third baseman Ronald Krsolovic. Following Krsolovic was Aramis Cruz who singled in the red hot Nicholas Ybarra who singled and Krsolovic to take a 3-0 lead.

Surge answered in the bottom half with a run when lead off hitter Taylor Olmstead walked and stole second base and scored on a 2 strike single to opposite field by Cory Alexander to cut the deficit to 2 runs.

Riverpigs would add 2 more in the top of the 2nd inning when Nicholas Ybarra singled in Eduardo Soto who reach on an error. Following Ybarra was Ronald Krsolovic with a single to drive in Colton Adams.

One more run would come in for the Riverpigs in the top of the 5th inning when Krsolovic singled for his 3rd hit of the day and scored on a sacrifice fly by Aj Pollack.

The Surge answered in the bottom of the 5th inning with two runs. Alexis Monge drove one in on a grounder to short to score Sid Kumar who singled for the second time in the day. The second run came in on a double down the left field line by Kyle Robinson.

No other runs would come in for either team as Stephen Cardiello would come in to close it out for the Riverpigs to get the save.

Conor Maguire started for the Riverpigs going 6 complete innings throwing 101 pitches allowing 3 earned, striking out 4 batters and earning the win.

Ryan Tomao started for the Surge pitching 6 complete innings striking out 3 Riverpigs batters and was credited with the loss.

Both teams will continue play tomorrow at 11:00am and 3:00pm for more Empire League Series.
