JERRY CHAVARRIA’S BIG BLAST LIFTS BRILLIANCE OVER ROAD WARRIOR

WASHINGTON PA – The Baseball Brilliance Sox go into extra innings with the Road Warrior Black Sox and Jerry Chavarria ends it with a walk off home run.

Frank Podkul belted his 2nd home run of the series and is now the league leader in home runs.

Marcos Corrales went 2 for 4 with a run and an RBI while Ben Andrews joined him going 2 for 2 with a run and a stolen Base for the Brilliance Sox.

For the Road Warriors, Zane Gelphman went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI’s while Pete Yorgen went 2 for 3 with a double and a run scored.

The game would go into extra innings and with runner on second, Jerry Chavarria belted his first home run to give the Brilliance Sox the win and overall first place in the Empire League Standings.

Both teams will continue play tomorrow at 11:00 am and 3:00pm for more Empire League Series action.

RIVERPIGS WIN CLOSE ONE OVER SURGE IN SECOND BATTLE OF THE ADIRONDACKS

WASHINGTON, PA – Tupper Lake Riverpigs defeat the Saranac Lake Surge by a score of 6-3 in game 2 of Battle of the Adirondacks.

Riverpigs took an early lead right off the bat in the top of the 1st inning when lead off hitter Colton Adams scored on a base hit by third baseman Ronald Krsolovic. Following Krsolovic was Aramis Cruz who singled in the red hot Nicholas Ybarra who singled and Krsolovic to take a 3-0 lead.

Surge answered in the bottom half with a run when lead off hitter Taylor Olmstead walked and stole second base and scored on a 2 strike single to opposite field by Cory Alexander to cut the deficit to 2 runs.

Riverpigs would add 2 more in the top of the 2nd inning when Nicholas Ybarra singled in Eduardo Soto who reach on an error. Following Ybarra was Ronald Krsolovic with a single to drive in Colton Adams.

One more run would come in for the Riverpigs in the top of the 5th inning when Krsolovic singled for his 3rd hit of the day and scored on a sacrifice fly by Aj Pollack.

The Surge answered in the bottom of the 5th inning with two runs. Alexis Monge drove one in on a grounder to short to score Sid Kumar who singled for the second time in the day. The second run came in on a double down the left field line by Kyle Robinson.

No other runs would come in for either team as Stephen Cardiello would come in to close it out for the Riverpigs to get the save.

Conor Maguire started for the Riverpigs going 6 complete innings throwing 101 pitches allowing 3 earned, striking out 4 batters and earning the win.

Ryan Tomao started for the Surge pitching 6 complete innings striking out 3 Riverpigs batters and was credited with the loss.

Both teams will continue play tomorrow at 11:00am and 3:00pm for more Empire League Series.

SOX TAKE DOWN RIVERPIGS IN WALKOFF FASHION

WASHINGTON, PA – The Brilliance Sox walk off on the Tupper Lake Riverpigs to win 5-4.

The Brilliance Sox took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st inning on a RBI single by Cody Lovejoy to score Dustyn Macaluso.

The Tupper Lake Riverpigs would answer in the 3rd inning when Aj Pollack tied it at 1-1 with a triple to the right side scoring Tyler Bailey. Nicholas Ybarra continues his hot streak with a single to drive in Aj Pollack. Ybarra would then score on a ground ball to shortstop by Josh Goulet.

In the top of the 4th inning, The Riverpigs would add another run when Rami Jadallah singled up the middle to push Jose Zacarias to third. Zacarias would eventually score on a Wild pitch strike 3.

Starting pitcher for the Sox Ean Walda would pitch 5 innings allowing 4 earned runs and striking out 8 batters. Zach Quinn for the Riverpigs would match Walda as he went 5 innings allowing just 4 hits and 3 earned runs striking out 2 batters.

Dustyn Macaluso would triple in the final inning, Cody Lovejoy would be hit by a pitch and steal second, and Ben Andrews would drive them in to walk off for the victory.

Winning pitcher is Luis Nova who came in relief for an inning while losing pitcher is Joseph Lara.

Both teams will play tomorrow at 11:00am and 3:00pm for the second rivalry day.

SURGE STRUGGLES CONTINUE IN LOSS TO BLACK SOX

WASHINGTON, PA – The Road Warrior Black Sox defeated the Saranac Lake Surge by a score of 7-1 in the first game of todays Empire League Series where the first place Black Sox took on the last place Surge.

The Black Sox took an early lead in the 2nd inning when first baseman Frank Podkul blasted an opposite field Home Run.

They would add 2 more in the bottom of the 3rd inning on a clutch 2 out, 2 RBI single up the middle by shortstop Zane Gelphman to score Manny Gomez and Vee Desai.

In the 5th inning, Derek Reddy singled with 2 outs, stole second base, advanced to third on a wild pitch and would score on another 2 out single this time by Omar Artsen. The Black Sox would get another run in the 6th on yet another 2 out single, this time by Pete Yorgen to score Frank Podkul.

The Surge would get on the board in the 7th inning when Will Thomas singled to the left side scoriing Kyle Robinson who singled for the second time in the game.

Carlos Canelon started for the Saranac Lake Surge going 5 innings allowing 4 earned on 5 hits and striking out 8 batters. Nick Garcia was the starter for the Black Sox going 7 innings allowing just 1 earned on 8 hits and striking out 8 batters. Joe Jones would come in and pitch 2 innings strikiking out 4 batters and allowing just 1 hit.

Garcia has been credited with the victory while Canelon will take his first loss of the series. Both teams will resume play tomorrow at 11am and 3pm.
