BRILLIANCE SOX COME FROM BEHIND LATE TO TAKE GAME ONE OVER THE SURGE

WASHINGTON, PA – The Saranac Lake Surge started the 2020 series off with a hard fought game versus the Baseball Brilliance Sox coming back from a 4 to zero deficit but late rally wasn’t enough.

The Saranac Lake Surge were behind 4 to zero going into the bottom of the 8th inning where the Surge only had 2 hits off Sox starting pitcher Bruce Bell who was very dominant going 8 innings of work striking out 5 batters before being taken out in the 8th inning. Bell earned his first win of the season.

Surge starter Carlos Canelon was very impressive in his first start going 5 innings giving up just 1 run and striking out 7 batters.

Surge scored 5 runs to take a 5 to 4 lead heading into the top of the 9th but a 2 out rally gave the Sox the lead and the win.

Kyle Robinson and Cory Alexander led the way offensively for the Surge with 2 hits each.

The Surge will take on the Road Warrior Black Sox tomorrow at 11:00am ET.

RIVERPIGS DEFEAT BLACK SOX FOR FIRST WIN IN TEAM HISTORY

WASHINGTON, PA –  The Tupper Lake Riverpigs made history in the Empire League today by defeating the Road Warrior Black Sox in the first game of the 2020 Empire League Series.

The Riverpigs scored the first run of the organization when Riverpigs Third Baseman Ronald Krsolovic hit a single in the 4th inning and scored on a triple by Aramis Cruz who would also score on great execution by Catcher Miguel Molina’s ground ball RBI.

Colton Adams would lead off the 5th inning with a single and stole second base and would eventually score on a wild pitch for the third run of the game.

The Black Sox would get on board in the top of the 7th when Marten Pauwels was hit by pitch, advanced to third on a pickoff error and scored on a wild pitch. But the Riverpigs would answer back with 5 runs with 3 of those runs coming on a base clearing pinch hit double by catcher David Grubaugh.

The Riverpigs would go on to finish the game winning its first in organization history by the score of 10-6.

Riverpigs Venezuelan ace Jose Zacarias went 5 inning not allowing a single run, striking out 8 and only allowing 1 hit and 1 walk.

Riverpigs shortstop Nicholas Ybarra was outstanding going 3 for 4 with a double, 2 runs and 2 stolen bases. Ybarra got the first hit in Riverpigs history as well the first stolen bases.

Aramis Cruz showed power with a double and a triple and 2 runs batted in.

The Riverpigs will take on the Baseball Brilliance Sox tomorrow at 3:00pm ET. Fans are welcomed.

TAYLOR OLMSTEAD SELECTED NUMBER ONE OVERALL

WASHINGTON, PA – The Empire League scouting day brought out the best in everyone during todays evaluations.   With MLB organizations and Federation leagues in attendance, many players showcased their abilities well, including Outfielder Taylor Olmstead who was selected number one overall at the end of the night.

Olmstead, a former 13th Rd Draft pick by the Texas Rangers, ran an impressive 6.5 sixty yard dash and flew around the bases drawing attention from many scouts.

Olmstead was selected by the Saranac Lake Surge who drew first pick during this years draft.

With two days remaining in camp, all players will look to be part of the final Empire League final rosters for the 2020 Season Series.

2020 EMPIRE BASEBALL LEAGUE SERIES SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED

SARANAC LAKE, NY – The Empire Baseball League has officially announced the schedule of games to be played during the 2020 Empire League Series in Washington, Pennsylvania.

The Tupper Lake Riverpigs will make history by taking on the Road Warriors of the Blacksox organization at 10:00am on September 1st while  The Saranac Lake Surge will take on the Baseball Brilliance Sox organization at 2:00pm.

The series will have a one game playoff  into a one game decider to win it all.
