CARLOS CANELON SIGNED TO THE MLB PARTNERED FRONTIER LEAGUE

WASHINGTON, PA – The Empire League Series strikeout leader, Carlos Canelon, has been officially signed to the Gateway Grizzlies of the now MLB partnered Frontier League.

Canelon, a hard throwing right handed pitcher was impressive in this years series with a moving fastball and a hard slider that led him to lead the league in strikeouts.

Canelon is now contracted for the 2021 season with the Gateway Grizzlies.

” I cannot thank you guys enough for what you have done for me, this has been the greatest opportunity of my life and now I will begin to work harder to keep moving in the Frontier League.”

SURGE 2B ALEXIS MONGE DRAFTED BY GASTONIA OF THE ATLANTIC LEAGUE

WASHINGTON, PA – The Empire Baseball League would like to congratulate Saranac Lake Surge second baseman Alexis Monge on being drafted by the newest franchise of the Atlantic League in Gastonia.

Monge was drafted at this years great Prospect Dugout Atlantic League Tryout.

The Empire League would like to send a special thanks to our friends at Meet a Prospect for their scouting evaluations of players.

PLAYOFFS FORMAT IS NOW SET AND READY TO CROWN A CHAMPION

WASHINGTON, PA – The Empire League Series regular games have fully finished and the Series will now go into it’s playoff format. After all games were played, The Road Warrior Black Sox have claimed the number one seed.

Brilliance Sox will earn the second seed of the playoffs while Tupper Lake Riverpigs get third and Saranac Lake Surge get 4th.

The Playoff games will be as followed.

Road Warrior Black Sox will face the Saranac Lake Surge and the Tupper Lake Riverpigs will face the Brilliance Sox.

Playoffs begin Monday September 28th, 2020. All games will be livestreamed as usual on Empire TV.

BLACK SOX CLINCHTHE NUMBER ONE SEED HEADING INTO THE PLAYOFFS

WASHINGTON, PA – The Empire League series is coming to an end in a few days before the playoffs begin and the Saranac Lake Surge would take on the first place Black Sox.

Strikeout leader Carlos Canelon would take on the newly acquired Skylar Janisse.

Cory Alexander would welcome Skylar to the Series with a homer over the left field wall. That would be Alexanders first homer of the series.

Black Sox would answer when lead off hitter Derek Reddy would steal third and score on a throwing error by the Surge catcher.

Surge would get another one back in the top of the 2nd inning when Alexis Monge scored on a fielders choice.

This potential playoff matchup would get tied up in the bottom half when Vee Desai hit a sac fly to center to score Frank Podkul. Derek Reddy would follow him with a 2 out base hit to score Pete Yorgen and take a 3-2 lead.

Canelon would only go 2 innings as the Surge look to potentially use him in the playoffs as game 1 starter. He would strike out 2 batters in 2 innings.

A double by Frank Podkul would giver the Black Sox a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the 3rd scoring Jermond Williams.

Skylar Janisse would settle in and post up 4 straight no run innings for the Black Sox as they would take a 6-2 lead into the 6th inning.

The Black Sox would go on to win by a score or 9-3 and claim the number 1 seed heading into the playoffs.

Both teams will play tomorrow for series finale at 11:00 am ET and 3:00 pm ET.

SURGE TAKE DOWN RIVERPIGS IN BATTLE OF THE ADIRONDACKS FINALE

WASHINGTON, PA –  The final battle of the Adirondacks would take place when the visiting Saranac Lake Surge took on the Tupper Lake Riverpigs.

Donnell Hightower of the Surge would face off against right hander Stephen Cardiello of the Riverpigs.

Things could not have started any worse for the Riverpigs. After a Nicholas Ybarra ejection, starter Jorge Murillo exited the game with an injury and a one run lead for the Surge. Surge would add on 4 more runs on a big double by Nelson Laviosa.

The Surge would take a commanding lead in the top of the 3rd when they score 5 more runs on walks and Riverpigs mistakes to take a 10-1 lead.

Riverpigs would get 2 back in the bottom of the 4th when Jose Zacarias hit a sac fly to left to score Josh Goulet.

Bottom of the 6th the Riverpigs would make a comeback scoring 3 more runs on great hitting by Miguel Molina with 2 outs to make the score 11-8.

David Tiskevics would come in to close it out for the Surge but not until the Riverpigs made it very interested. With bases loaded and 2 outs, Brandon Camargo would single to center to make the game 11-9 but a big running mistake allowed for the Surge to get the second runner coming around to score and end the game.

Both teams will play again tomorrow at 11:00 am ET and 3:00 pm ET for the final 3 games of the season.
