EPBL SENDS THUNDERBIRDS ACE CAS SILBER TO NEW BRITAIN BEES OF THE ATLANTIC LEAGUE

PLATTSBURGH, NY – As the Empire League prepares to play in the CanAm Series, they will be without their game one starter Cas Silber who is currently changing his gps destination from New Jersey to New Britain , Connecticut.

Silber, right handed starting pitcher for the first place Thunderbirds, is now headed to New Britain to play for the New Britain Bees of the Atlantic League. Silber will be starting tomorrow at 7pm in Connecticut.

In 2 starts, Silber won 2 games  in 12 innings of work striking out 21 batters. Silber topped out at 91 mph for the Thunderbirds and will look to continue his career at the highest level of Independent baseball in the Atlantic League.

THUNDERBIRDS BIGGEST COMEBACK IN TEAM HISTORY EXTENDS EPBL LONGEST WINNING STREAK OF 9

PLATTSBURGH, NY – The Plattsburgh Thunderbirds pulled off a never before seen in franchise history come from behind victory to sweep the cross town rivals of Saranac Lake Surge. The team  not only came back from a large 9 run deficit, which is the biggest in franchise history, but, the team has also tied the Empire Leagues longest winning streak  of 9 set back in 2017.

The Surge  took an early 8 to 0 lead with strong performances by Skylar Mercado  who hit a solo shot to left, and a 3 for 3 day for Stephen Octave behind the dish. Chikara Igami was more then stellar going 4 innings allowing just 1 earned run while striking out 3 batters.

The story for the Thunderbirds could not be made up. They chipped away to score a total of 12 runs after a big fly from right fielder Zach Sullivan  who went 4 for 5 in the game.  Kezlin Douglas was a superstar on the mound tonight tossing 5 full innings allowing just one run and striking out 5 batters.

This Thunderbirds win means a sweep of the mayors series  by the Plattsburgh Thunderbirds. Both teams will break for CamAm league series and will continue play on Thursday July  4th.

THUNDERBIRDS CHASING LONGEST WIN STREAK RECORD WITH THEIR 6TH IN A ROW TODAY

PLATTSBURGH, NY – Left handed starter Dimitri Nunez was stellar once again in his second outing of the season to give the Thunderbirds their 6th win of the season as they are still undefeated and chasing Empire League history.

With todays win the Thunderbirds are still undefeated with a 6 – 0 record. The longest winning streak by any team in League history is 9 set back in 2017. The Thunderbirds are now chasing history as they are just 3 wins away from reaching that mark.

Dimitri Nunez did work today going 7 strong allowing 3 runs, striking out 4 batters and not allowing a single walk. In 2 starts, Dimitri has thrown 14 innings allowing just 3 runs striking out 10 batters and only walking 1 while taking 2 wins.

If the Thunderbirds are to sweep this mayors series, the Thunderbirds would tie the record at 9 and will have a chance to break it on July 4th against the New York Bucks!

YORDANY SALVA MOVED TO SUSSEX COUNTY MINERS OF THE CANAM LEAGUE

AGUADA, PR –  Top prospect catcher of the 2018 Empire League Champions, Yordany Salva has been moved to the Sussex County Miners of the CanAm League and will join former Plattsburgh Thunderbird Gavin Stupienski as the only two catchers on the team.

Salva was a former Kansas City Royals draft pick who played with the Plattsburgh Thunderbirds in 2017 and Puerto Rico Islanders in 2018 and 2019.

Hes been considered as the leagues top catcher and is now going to continue his career with the Sussex County Miners in the Canam League.

GAVIN STUPIENSKI IS HEADED TO THE SUSSEX COUNTY MINERS OF THE CANAM

PLATTSBURGH, NY – The Empire League has moved starting catcher for the Plattsburgh Thunderbirds Gavin Stupienski to the Sussex County Miners of the Canam league today.

Stupienski  in just 8 appearances with the thunderbirds is (2 for 6) with a home run  and 3 RBI’s with no stolen bases allowed.

Stupienski was drafted  by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 12th round of the 2016 MLB draft where he  spent 2 seasons of affialiated baseball and is now taking the next step into his career by coming to the Empire League and now being moved to the Sussex County Miners of the Canam league where he will be the starting catcher in tonights matchup.
