EMPIRE LEAGUE 2021 SEASON TO BE PLAYED IN NEW YORK

SARANAC LAKE, NY –  The Empire League Board of director’s announced Monday that it will play most of its 2021 games in the state of New York. With the Covid restrictions still in place in various locations of operations, the league has reached its time limit on making important timely decisions and adjustments for the 2021 season operations. Scheduling, transportation and housing are among most important functions that are top priority to keeping the League operating safely for our players and our communities. For this upcoming 2021 season, teams will travel between New York and New Hampshire but will not be traveling in and out of Georgia or Puerto Rico.

The League is still planning on executing a full regular season with alternate remote sites that will host games in New York. At this point it can be said that baseball games will likely be played in Tupper Lake NY, Saranac Lake NY, Lyon Mountain NY, Plattsburgh NY and New Hampshire.

As the League continues to grow and improve, executives are looking forward to the 2022 season and finally executing the expansion plans in place.

EDUARDO RIVERA SIGNS WITH YORK REVOLUTION AT ALL INDY BALL PRO LEAGUE SHOWCASE

YORK, PA –   The Empire Baseball Organization puts together several professional baseball showcases and tryouts throughout the country every year. This year, at the All Independent League Pro Showcase held at PeoplesBank Park in York, PA, Home of the York Revolution of the Atlantic League, the organization had tremendous success as over 20 ball players will get an opportunity to play in 2021.

Included is Right handed pitcher Eduardo Rivera who was signed to the York Revolution of the Atlantic League .Rivera,   a 6’5  235lb right handed pitcher, topped out at 93 mph with a strong slider. Eduardo stood out amongst all the pitchers with great posture, abilities and resume.

Some of the other stand outs that will be getting an opportunity to have a season in the Empire League are Prospects Cory Alexander who displayed excellent speed and skills. Cristian Montanez who displayed tremendous power from the right side as a first baseman and Brandon Russo, a rookie shortstop with great arm, speed and bat.

LEO CABRERA SIGNS WITH THE MINNESOTA TWINS

FT. MYERS, FL –  Leo Cabrera, a great young man with excellent work ethics came to the Empire League in 2019 looking to get much needed At bats and opportunity to show he deserves a spot back in affiliated Baseball,  batted .299 in 150 plate appearances  hitting 7 homers and driving in 36 RBI’s.

When time of need came for the Minnesota Twins to fill a spot, they utilized the Empire League for exactly what it exists for, to have ready players to fill those spots.

 

After a great season with the Explorers batting .299 with a league leading 7 Home Runs and 36 RBI’s, Cabrera has kept the eyes of scouts in the area with good showings in the off season which had Milos making calls and messaging with questions. After several phone conversations this week between Director of Baseball Eddie Gonzalez and Twins Scout Billy Milos, a decision was made to sign Leo Cabrera today.

The Empire League and it’s members continue to be very grateful for the relationship with the Twins and various organizations that look towards Empire League players to fill roster spots.

Leo reports to Ft. Myers, Florida for Spring Training and looks to be in a minor league roster this season.

ALL STAR GAME TO TAKE PLACE IN TUPPER LAKE

TUPPER LAKE, NY – The Empire League announced today that the 2021 All Star Game and Home Run derby will take place at Municipal Park in Tupper Lake, New York.

The Home Run Derby will take place on Friday July 17th starting at 7:30pm.

The All Star Game will take place on July 18th starting at 7:30pm.

SURGE ADD OUTFIELD PROSPECT JOEY DICE

VIERA, FL –   The Atlantic League of Professional Baseball hosted their annual Prospect Dugout Tryout event over the weekend in which many talented players attended.

Outfielder Joey Dice really impressed with his ability to play the outfield and showed very strong hitting abilities.  Dice will enter his first season of professional baseball where he will look to get the experience needed to climb in the baseball world.

Joey is 5’9″ and weights 195 lbs.  from  Livemore, California. He is the first Surge player signed for 2021.
