FORMER SURGE PITCHER SIGNS WITH THE MILWAUKEE BREWERS

SARANAC LAKE, NY – Former right handed starting pitcher for the Surge Baseball organization Johnnie LaRossa has climbed up the latter and earned his way to signing with the Milwaukee Brewers  organization.

The  North Massapequa, New York product  started 7 games in the Empire League  posting a (2-2) record. LaRossa had one complete game with one shutout. In 38 innings of work, LaRossa struck out 43 batters.

The EBL congratulates Johnnie and hopes to see him continue to build his empire.

JOEY MOLINA TO CONTINUE COACHING IN MEXICAN BASEBALL LEAGUE

SARANAC LAKE, NY –  Manager of the New York Explorers for the previous two seasons moves on to coach with the Quintana Roo Tigres of the Mexican Baseball League in Cancun, Mexico

The Quintana Roo Tigers, formerly known as the Mexico Tigers are a Triple-A Minor League Baseball team located in Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico. The team is part of the Southern Division of the Mexican Baseball League. The Tigres were founded in Mexico City in 1955 and played there through the 2006 season.

Joey had his first professional experience with the Empire League starting in 2018 with hopes to build his resume and he did just that for two seasons.  He will now move on to do great things in Mexico and the Empire League could not be more thrilled as this is what the Empire League is all about.

GEORGIA RHINOS PENDING AGREEMENT TO JOIN THE EBL AS NEW EXPANSION TEAM

SARANAC LAKE, NY – The Empire League is set to officially welcome its first ever expansion organization pending the agreement. The League is currently finalizing the operating agreement that would allow for the newly formed and privately owned organization “The Georgia Rhinos” to participate in official league play beginning June of 2020 .

The Franchise headquarters are in Conyers, Georgia where the team looks to host its inaugural games at Henson Carr Legion Field. Team owners and co-founders CEO Dr. David L. Scott Jr and COO Rick Turpin Sr. believe the Empire League platform is absolutely perfect to meet the needs of players looking to take that first step into pursuing a Professional Baseball career and feel that its what independent baseball should truly be all about.

“Developing and giving guys repetitions as a true opportunity at learning how to become professionals is what is needed in many areas of this country. That education and knowledge is priceless” says Dr. Scott.

The Team has hired Tim Raines Jr. as field manager, son of former MLB star and Hall of Famer Tim Raines.

The Georgia Rhinos will host teams from Puerto Rico, New Hampshire and New York this coming summer as part of the regularly scheduled matches.

“The Empire League is still a league on its beginning stages, we are just now starting to touch the surface of growth and expansion as we look to continue improving these levels of Professional baseball development programs. We have a big vision where the league will grow in a way that can be truly defined as the biggest platform to help players achieve the high levels of professional Baseball.” said League Director Eddie Gonzalez

The Rhinos will host League Base tryouts starting in March, Players interested in showcasing their skills to the Independent Baseball industry or playing in the Empire League must attend a team or League Tryout camp to be selected.

ISLANDERS REYNOSO WINS WINTER LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP AND NAMED TO ALL TEAM HONORS

SAN JUAN, PR – Puerto Rico Islanders right handed relief pitcher Eddy Reynoso has worked his way into winning a Puerto Rico Professional Winter League title with the Cangrejeros de Santurce.

The Cangrejeros defeated the Mayaguez Indios last night to take the Islands biggest baseball title and Reynoso was a big piece of that puzzle. The team will now travel to represent Puerto Rico in the Caribbean World Series which brings the winners of each country to fight for the Caribbean title.

Teams that are a part of this are Dominican Republic, Columbia, Panama, Mexico, Venezuela and Cuba.  DR has the most Caribbean World Series titles with 19 while Puerto Rico is right behind them at 16.

Reynoso didn’t just win the Puerto Rico title, he was also named  as the right hander of the year and to the All Star Puerto Rico team.  An achievement most dream of during for the Winter Leagues.

Eddy appeared in a total of 14 games while pitching 21 innings of work.  He only gave up 1 earned run on 11 hits  during his relief appearances  while striking out 7 batters.  What made him a game changer?  He also won 5 games which was the most by any pitcher in the entire league.

CAMP EARLY REGISTRATION PERIOD ANNOUNCED

NEW YORK, NY –   Every year during the winter, the Empire League provides a week long opportunity for returning and out of college prospects  to register for the independent pro baseball showcase camp early. This opportunity allows for players to sign up for the exciting event during a time when the league secures sponsors and supporting partners.

For this reason, the ELB provides a discounted rate where players can save  from the regular camp cost.   Players have the opportunity to lock in their camp cost for housing and meals at a more economical price  during the early registration period.

 The 2020 Independent Pro Baseball Showcase and ELB  Spring Training camp will give you the opportunity to be scouted by confirmed MLB scouts as well as higher level independent baseball leagues. If a player is not selected by MLB or higher level independent leagues, then the player will have an opportunity to make 1 of the 6 teams in the ELB.

All ELB rosters are made strictly from those players that attend camp.  No players will be signed to the ELB directly from outside winter leagues or other programs.

The Empire League will have 6 teams for the 2020 season of play.  The camp will be held in the week of June 1st to June 5th.

For those players that would like to take advantage of the discounted early bird pricing, deadline to register is January 20th. If you do not register during the  early registration period, you will have an opportunity to register during the regular registration period which goes from March 1st through April 1st. Due to the number of players requesting to participate, no player will be accepted after April 1st.
